Revenge of the fire ants……I woke up today with my ankles on fire. They were itchy as hell and the bites I’d received were sort of swelling up….all I could do was scratch the heck out of them, just like your mom always told you not to do.

The plan for today was to drive, drive, drive……..so that’s what I did. The temps were in the high 90’s all day and I drove the wheels of the ole’ Tundra.

When the day was done I found myself in the surprisingly cool (temps) town of Flagstaff Arizona. The streets were alive with people. There was a "movie in the park" and the throngs of people were released into the streets as the credits rolled.

Flagstaff was a major launching point for trips to nearby Grand Canyon National Park….so there were families and couples who’d either just been or were going to the canyon tomorrow. I was probably one of the few tourists in Flagstaff without the canyon on my itinerary.

Having been to the Grand Canyon before, it ranks only number three on the list of most amazing natural things I’ve seen with my own eyes. Two would be the view of Half Dome from Glacier Point at Yosemite. Number one would be the view of Lake Louise at Banff National Park in Canada.

Wolfed down some pizza and called it a night at Wal-Mart…….and froze to death with the windows open as the temps sneakily plummeted into the low 50’s at night. I did not see that coming.
