Sometimes the bathroom is just too far to walk to in the morning and I have to get a little creative. This morning was no different as I found a spot that looked good near the front bumper of the truck. After 30 seconds or so I realized that I was standing in a swarm of nasty southern fire ants! Like the days of Tarzan when the fire ants devoured everything in sight, the began to devour my legs. I had to kick off my shoes and swipe them away with my hand. I probably had ten solid bites all over my feet. After a while the heat and itching went away. I guess I need to watch my step in the scary south……
I had five states to go as I entered the Lone Star state of Texas. The one thing I noticed immediately about Texas was the high volume of cowboy hat wearin’ state police type cops everywhere. They had people pulled over all over the place.
My destination today was supposed to be the world largest flea market. It turned out to be the world hottest flea market as temps soared into the 100’s. The flea market was weak……totally geared toward women with mostly newer items for sale like furniture and home décor. It stunk and was a huge waste of time. Not even close to the worlds biggest either…..
Also on the agenda today was to take a tour of Texas Stadium......The website said you could run on the field, kick field goals and everything. I was getting fired up for it when I discovered the small print at the bottom. There were three dates that the tour would not be offered.....today and the two days after. Sweet.....another bust.
Had a pretty great cheeseburger at a place called Whataburger. Whataburger is a localized chain of burger joints that put out pretty mean burger and fry combo.
After that it was back north again, checking Oklahoma off the list. Sat at McDonald’s in Oklahoma City and blogged up a storm.
Tomorrow it’s west back through Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, to San Diego, California before turning north up the California coastline……
I can't believe you call going to Shreveport going to Lousiana...what about New Orleans?? You missed a great opportunity. The music the food the nightlife..the Superdome...and what about fishing in a bayoou...you need to go back and try again.
